Dr Chris McCosker is a Lecturer within the School of Behavioural and Health Sciences at the Brisbane campus of the Australian Catholic University (ACU). He teaches in both undergraduate and postgraduate units predominantly focused on physical education, motor control and learning and coaching disciplines. Prior to his employment at ACU, Chris spent time at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) as a sessional academic teaching into undergraduate skill acquisition units as well as taking a role as a research assistant on an NHMRC grant focused on textured insoles and Parkinson’s disease.

Chris has also previously spent time employed as a sport scientist at the Queensland Academy of Sport specialising in biomechanics and skill acquisition across various sporting programs including track and field, rowing and water polo. His PhD was focused on better understanding long jump specific locomotor pointing tasks through a theoretical lens of ecological dynamics and he continues to share his research findings on better understanding sports performance and the implications to training design.

As an accredited applied sport scientist with ESSA, Chris is passionate about enhancing the learning experiences of students in higher education and to continue to develop our future skill acquisition specialists’.

Dr McCosker joined the ASAN Executive Committee in 2022.
